Botany Bay an art of nature

This beach built by nature Is located on Edisto Island South Carolina. Taking Highway 174 to Botany Bay Road Is where the adventure begins. The first building you’ll see is a church. This 4,630 acre plantation was home for many including slaves. There is a lot of history dating back to 1695 for the sea cloud plantation and the late 1790s for the Bleak Hall plantation. Photographers and visitors in recent years describes this area as: beautiful, intriguing, magical, breathtaking.

The picture shown here is the beach portion. No shells, artifacts, driftwood or anything can be removed from the beach or any part of the plantation. In addition no alcohol allowed no metal detectors or drones.

The entry to Botany Bay reminds me of a tunnel as you travel on a dirt road through a canopy of oak trees.

Because of the erosion of the beach, some of the dead trees stand still facing the ocean while others take their place on the sand.

Growing up on Edisto and enjoying the atmosphere of the Low Country, I invite you to connect to a piece of this history through the various mediums on my web page.
